Bad parents

Was chatting and catching up with my cousin last night on what's new in our lives. I asked him if there was anything new happening in his workplace and suddenly the topic on aunties from hell came up.

He mentioned that the bank he is working at has started putting jars of candy on the service counters and has also started dispensing free drinks from the vending machine to service their customers better.

Apparently there was an auntie who would very often, walk into the bank with a child, linger for a while, serreptitiously creep to the vending machine armed with a huge thermo flask and help herself to all the hot milo. There was another auntie who would walk in with her child, rob the bank of all its candy and walk away nonchalantly leaving nothing behind, as if it was her god who had given her the greenlight to do so,which I doubt religion teaches us such uncouth values.

And then, my cousin recounted another incident which is even more disturbing. Apparently a kid had taken all the candy from a particuler jar and the counter staff told the child not to do so. The mother stomped over, threw up a rage and screamed at the staff for reprimanding her child.

"WHY CAN'T HE TAKE ALL THE CANDY?!! I TAKE ALL THE CANDY WHAT CAN YOU DO!!!" and she proceeded to do just that by emptying all the jars into her bag, and went off like a passing, violent hurricane.

All that in front of an innocent adolescent......

Hearing this makes my blood boil. These are the same aunties who cut your morning queue in food centres and conveniently grab 5 free copies of Today newspapers. They are the ones who quarrel with you and claw you to death over that last piece of Garfield T-shirt at the Robinson's warehouse sale. They are also the ones who wipe out all the prawns at the buffet line as soon as they are served. It is bad enough that they do all these in public, it is even worse if they had to bring along their children as well.I certainly hope my mum is not included as well...

"Come son, mommy teach you how be a fucker by cutting that nice gentlemen's queue who was been standing there for the past 6 hours." *proceeds to nudge her way in*

Some people would say "Aiyah, Singaporeans are like that one lah. So kiasu..."But this kiasu attitude really gives singaporean a bad name to the visiting tourists.Imagine a local cutting the queue or a caucasian?utter disgrace i must say.

However,I do not think that this is a Singaporean behaviour. Bad, obnoxious behaviour is universal.I believe that the majority of us are law abiding, tax paying and line queuing citizens. It is the minority few that gives us a bad name. I am a Singaporean too and so are the fellow locals who deem all forms of bad behaviour Singaporean. So please do not say that Singaporeans are like that, I am not in the same boat as them. I am not like that and so are the majority of us out there. So please just label them as fuckers.

My cousin recounted yet another incident where he saw a boy kicking the vending machine violently. He wanted to correct the boy's behaviour and scolded the boy for doing that. He ended up quarrelling with the mother since she did not like her precious child to be scolded by a stranger.

Come on, bad behaviour is bad behaviour, a good samaritan did something out of good will and he got fucked for doing so? What is the child going to think whenever mommy jumps to his defense everytime he sets a stray cat on fire? Is that being a responsible parent?

I hope that these parents should be banned from spawning. I truely cannot imagine what the child will grow up into. One menace to the society is bad enough and they had to turn their kids into one as well?We are the ones who have to put up with these kids after their parents pass away in a violent accident involving falling anvils!!(I have strong faith in karma) They should make couples do a test to see how obnoxious they are and round up potential bad parents in a cage before setting them on fire....

Problems

Last week at around 6pm in the evening,I was having dinner at Bishan's Junction 8 food court. I needed the early dinner to rush down for a class nearby. As I was about to finish my bowl of Yong Tau Hu, I heard a loud thud at the entrance of the food court. A strong gust of wind had blown down a metal stand which was holding 2 large signboards and it was by then, blocking the entrance of the foodcourt.

A middle aged women sitting next to the entrance, looked away, seemingly oblivious to the obstruction lying on the floor under her nose.

"Daddy, I go and pick!" A little boy squealed enthusiastically to his father.

"Don't go and pick! Not your problem you go and pick for what?!! You want to invite trouble is it?" admonished the father.

As I finished up my food, I stood up, walked over to the entrance and picked up the metallic stand, so that I could make my way out of the foodcourt. The little boy ran over and picked up the signboard for me.

As I walked away, I thought about the women and that little boy's father. Sometimes, people can be so indifferent to the problems that exist in our world. These problems are not created from their own side and they look away expecting someone else to solve those problems. This in my opinion is the greatest flaw of mankind.

When we litter, that piece of tissue does not vapourize into thin air. When we refuse to flush, that piece of crap does not swim down the pipe on its own. Some of us are programmed to think that we do not have to take responsiblity of these problems because someone else will always be there to claim responsibility and solve it for everyone. I doubt that these 2 people would do anything if a bomb exploded in their neighbour's house.

It is hard to imagine how our society will progress if everyone do not take ownership of the problems evident in front of our very own eyes.

So fuck all these people who are waiting for others to clear the mess that they had created...

"The world is a dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don't do anything about it."-Albert Einstein
